IN THE HEART OF THE COUNTRY is a new piece directed by the South African choreographer and dancer Fana Tshabalala with Ana Mondini (Brazil/Germany) and Emil Bordás (Hungary) , co-produced by Constanza Macras | Dorky Park  (DE) and Forgotten Angle Theatre Collaborative (ZA). This piece was created within the frame of SUPER LOCAL STORIES, a series of small format performances resulting from collaborations between South African and German artists commissioned by Constanza Macras and Tamara Saphir within the frame of the two-years project SPACE TALES : FUTURE CITIES, initiated by Constanza Macras – DorkyPark and funded by the TURN Fund of the German Federal Cultural Foundation and the Goethe-Institut South Africa.

IN THE HEART OF THE COUNTRY is a physical exploration inspired by the “impossible dialogue” between black people and white people in JM Coetzee’s literature and Njabulo Ndebele’s book, Rediscovery of the Ordinary.  This piece will have its world premiere in South Africa on the 17th February 2017 as part of “My Body, My Space – Rural Arts and Culture Festival” in  Mpumalanga  (SA) and on the 2nd and 3rd March 2017 as part of the Dance Umbrella Festival in Johannesburg (ZA).
